Online portals
Let city or county staff send requests to the law office through a simple web form, and have each one arrive as a matter.
Requests arrive as matters
Most requests to a law office start as an email or a phone call, then someone types them into the system. An online portal removes that step. Staff fill in a form on the web, and CLNG turns the submission into a matter, ready for the office to take up.
Work assignment requests
The Work Assignment portal lets city or county employees ask the law office for work. Each submission becomes an Assignment matter in CLNG, and the requester receives the file number. A request can carry:
- who is asking, with their title and phone number;
- a title and a description of the work;
- a project accounting number, and whether the work is reimbursable and why;
- whether they are already working with an attorney, and whether relevant documents exist;
- the target date, and any City Council or boards and commissions approval and meeting dates;
- other deadlines and anything else the office should know.
Simple for the people asking
Requesters do not need a CLNG account. They enter their work email address and sign in with a one-time code sent to it, and only email addresses from the domains your office approves can sign in. After submitting, they can see their requests and the status of each.
Built for your office's form
The request form is defined for your office instead of being one fixed form for everyone. Fields can appear or become required based on earlier answers, so a short request stays short and a detailed one asks for what it needs. A date field can also carry an earliest or latest allowed date, which the form shows and checks before the request is sent.
What it does not do yet
Requests carry the details typed into the form. Attaching files to a request is not available yet.
Questions about online portals
Do the people who submit requests need a CLNG login?
No. The portal is separate from CLNG. A requester signs in with an emailed one-time code, and only email addresses from the domains your office approves can sign in.
What happens when someone submits a request?
CLNG creates a new Assignment matter from it automatically and gives the requester the file number, so the request lands in your Assignments module without anyone re-typing it.
Can the request form be changed for our office?
Yes. The form is defined for your office, and it can show or require follow-up details depending on earlier answers, such as asking for an explanation when a request is marked reimbursable.
Can requesters attach files?
Not yet. Today a request carries the details typed into the form. Tell us if attachments matter to your office.
Are there other portals?
This page describes the Work Assignment portal. If your office needs another kind of online intake form, ask us in a demo what is available.
